So I had ordered this digital scale that measured tenths of a pound. It was shipped via UPS. Since I live on a college campus, UPS is weird with us. When we get something shipped by US mail that's bigger than an envelope, we just get a little card in our box notifying us of it, and we show our student ID and the card at the campus post office desk and they retrieve our package for us. UPS will sometimes call and get you to come drive out to their place out in the boonies (and nobody I know, knows where it is). I'm thinking, "What's the point of ordering something off the Internet, if you still have to go get it?" But anyways, so I went and asked the post office ladies about it today and that's what they told me - that since it was UPS, it maybe Monday before I'd get any calls or notification about my package because UPS wants to deliver to a dorm room, which isn't an address. I always use my campus mail address, so that doesn't work for them apparently. Hmph. So...after I'd waited to eat (because I thought I'd get up, go to my psychology experiments and then grab my package from the post office, run back to the dorm, pee, strip down naked, and then weigh myself), I decided that since the damn thing wouldn't be here for a couple of days, I'd just eat some peanuts from the vending machine, along with drinking a couple of diet cokes. I go to another experiment (there was an unexpected time gap between the two psych. experiments - I finished the 12pm-1pm survey at 12:09, so I didn't want to wait around for almost an hour), come back, and the scale is there, and it also is NOT the scale I ordered. It's a regular digital scale that doesn't measure tenths of a pound. I go to Weight Watchers meetings at least every other week, and since WW's scales measure by the tenth, I just wanted one, too. It's really no big deal, but I was just kinda miffed that I'd ordered something specific, paid for it, and gotten something different. It's easy to find the regular digital scales; I could have gotten someone to take me to Wal-Mart and I could have purchased one for a cheaper price, minus the shipping & handling fee.
Also, since I had munched on peanuts and Diet Cokes, I sort of sabotaged my own weighing, ROFL. So, I figured the hell with it and I ate the cheese off a few pieces of pizza and my roommate ate the bread. After this, I peed, stripped down, and jumped on the new scale. It said 178, which is down 2 pounds from my last weighing, which was 180.

My roommate has decided (I didn't even try to convince her!) to join me and start the South Beach Diet tomorrow. There are quite a few people who are on WW that seem to do SBD for awhile and love it... :) I'm so happy! She said she'd go tan with me, too. Hehe. Wow.....Anyways. That's that. I'll post tomorrow and let you guys know my *true* weight (in my little world, "true weight" means "the weight of your body when you've just woken up, haven't eaten or drank anything, have peed, and are naked.").

1)How long have you been fat?
I have been over weight for say 7 years, but certifiably fat for around four or three...
2)What has worked for you in the past to lose weight?
Ephedra laced pills. Starvation. I am currently taking Xenical.
3)What's your biggest problem with dieting/exercise/diet pills? (in other words, why isn't that working for you right now?)
I usually partake in EXTREME diets because I want results immediately. I am too embarassed to go to the gym to exercise or walk around my block plus I have severe asthma. I am fine with diet pills but that damned FDA banned Ephedra last month.
4)Why do you think you are fat?
Medical conditions we are looking into right now.
5)What is your goal weight?
98 pounds.
6)Why are you failing at weight loss?
That's a good question I wish I knew the answer...not exercising enough and medical conditions as well.

Hmmm, ok yeah so I've been deathly ill for a few days now, and haven't eaten anything for 3 days. I had Day-Quill for breakfast and lunch every day, and aside from OJ and water, have consumed NOTHING. So how is it that I have lost barely even one pound???? Why is life so unfair??

i just had one of those atkins wraps from subway. doesn't look as good as in the picture. lol. but then again, what does?
it was pretty good...the wrap is actually very good for being low carb. i got the turkey bacon w/southwest sauce or something. has like 10.5 carbs, minus the olives that i didn't get. SOOOO try it if you're counting the carbs.

i made up a nice low carb dinner for myself last night..it turned out really good!

steak salad w/dressing:

dressing:

1/2 cup mayo
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
heavy cream
2 green onions, sliced thin
horseradish
shredded cheese to garnish

Add 2tsp. of horseradish to mayo and whisk. Squeeze in the lemon juice. Whisk in heavy cream until you get your desired consistancy. Taste, and add more horseradish if you want an extra kick. Mix in green onions and you're all good.

cook a lean piece of steak, slice it into thin strips. place it on top of some mixed greens. put a couple tbsp. of dressing on top, with reduced-fat shredded cheese to garnish.

Hi there just joining,

1)How long have you been fat?
Except for first year or so that I was born i was premmie and weighed in at less then 4.5lbs, I have thusly been fat approx 38 years

2)What has worked for you in the past to lose weight?
Various things but nothing worked for long periods, I have been on atkins, weight watchers, the cambridge diet (liquid), Bohemian (liquid) oa, cocaine and crack (not recommended) vertical banded gastroplasty, worked best but being a food/carb and emotional eater i managed to bring that to a stand still and am running back up again, back on atkins as of 01/20/04.

3)What's your biggest problem with dieting/exercise/diet pills? (in other words, why isn't that working for you right now?)
I eat and I eat the wrong things and am an emotional eater, bad bad bad but i am trying to correct these things. I also have disintegrating hips and it makes it hard to exercise with them, major pain.

4)Why do you think you are fat?
I eat for most of the wrong reasons and the wrong food choices and am unable to move enough to burn the cals i intake.

5)What is your goal weight?
200 to 230

6)Why are you failing at weight loss?
Poor food choices, poor exercise and emotional eating.

I am trying this again and not looking at atkins as a diet (hate that word) but as an eating plan so I can rejoin life.

atkins crustkess cheesecake..which i have taste tested..gets my Picky Eater Seal of Approval:

12 oz cream cheese, softened (i used the philly's whipped, no softening required)
3 packets of splenda
1 tsp. of vanilla
1 cup heavy whipping cream

Add the splenda and vanilla to the cream cheese & mix well. Taste. You might want a packet or two more splenda or a dash more vanilla..like I did.
In a seperate bowl, beat the whipping cream til it forms soft peaks. That's about 4 or 5 minutes.
Fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture til well blended. Put into a large glass bowl, cover tightly w/plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least an hour or two.

MMMMMMM goood.
This supposedly has only 2.6 carbs per serving....and is supposed to serve 6.

Today's total caloric intake, 1160. I'm going to bed in an hour or so, so as long as I don't screw up between now and then I've done alright today.
Know what I hate? When you weigh yourself in the morning and it looks like you've lost 5 lbs, and then at night, it looks like you've only lost 2 after starving all day? I know it's normal, but it's still bullshit.
Tomaintain my current weight, I have to consume 2214 calories, according to this thing. So by cutting that in (practically) half every day, I wonder how fast/how much I'll lose?
